Facebook losing teens: too many adults, not enough friends

A recent survey finds almost 20 per cent of teens leaving Facebook or using it dramatically less than a year ago, the chief reason being the most dreaded word from teens – boring – and the second highest reason being because their parents joined or there’s too many adults on the site. Originally designed for teens, like a lot of similar programs it has evolved, and not only parents but the corporate world are all trying to maximize the site to reach a valued audience. Unfortunately for them, this valued audience wants the site to stick to its original purpose: a way for teens to stay in contact. Facebook, incidentally, doesn’t give out stats on how much churn it has.
